Once I got it assembled with not-so-great instructions, I realized what a clever game it was! If the spinner lands on a certain icon, the player pushes the ghost down at the top of the castle. Then, watch as booby traps move and catch players! The kids are fascinated! The more players, the better (up to 5) because more players are being affected by the traps. Also it takes some coordination to push the ghost down without shaking the whole castle and knocking the players' pieces over. Our 4-yr-old plays and I usually hold the castle steady for him or help him move his piece.
Bought this since our kids like Scooby Doo. The game pieces aren't made to hold up, so it isn't worth the money since you can't play with it more than a few times.
Giving it is like giving 2 gifts in one because it can be played with as a game or played with as a toy house playset. The loud sound it makes when the booby traps go will make your kids jump out of their sneakers! The assembly instructions seemed like they were printed way too small but there's a scanned version at www.scoobydoohauntedhouse.com that's easier to read.
